RE-ELECT Eric Alvarez for Modesto City Council, District 2

We’ve made meaningful progress in Modesto, but there is still more work ahead. I’m running for re-election to continue building on that progress and ensure District 2 remains a place where families feel safe, neighborhoods are cared for, and city services are responsive and effective.

DELIVERING FOR DISTRICT 2

PUBLIC SAFETY

We've made important strides here, such as the historic zero homicide rate in 2025, a full reduction of violent crime city-wide, and ensuring faster 911 response times. District 2 is safer today than at any point in recent memory.

That's not rhetoric, that's reality. 2025 MPD Crime Stats tell the story:  Auto theft ↓43%, robbery ↓26%, commercial burglary ↓43%, residential burglary ↓10%, major property crime ↓21%, and total major violent crime ↓13%.

I plan to continue investing in and expanding community-centered safety strategies, supporting effective and accountable policing, and ensuring families feel safe in every neighborhood.

CLEAN & SAFE PARKS

Clean and safe parks goes hand in hand with public safety. District 2's Fourth St. Park and MLK Park received full renovation upgrades totaling more than $25 million investment.

Under my leadership, Fourth St. Park -- the largest park renovation in Modesto's history -- has received $17 million for comprehensive upgrades, including: new pool, water park, skatepark, and upgraded soccer fields.

I plan to keep projects delivered on time and well-maintained by ensuring cameras are connected to and monitored by Modesto Police Department's Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC). This ensures our youth are safe to play, learn, and thrive.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Since I took office in 2022, my council colleagues and I have unanimously approved more than half a dozen affordable housing projects.  Projects like the decades-old El Capitan Motel on Needham St, which will be converted into permanent supportive housing for military veterans and residents experiencing behavioral health challenges.

With rents capped at $600 a month, it turns an underused property into 48 stable, affordable housing units for our community. This initiative reflects Modesto’s continued commitment to innovative, community-based solutions to affordable housing.

SIDEWALKS & INFRASTRUCTURE

In 2023, my council colleagues and I fought for and approved $3 million to revamp sections of Paradise Road, including sidewalk repair, crosswalk repainting, roundabouts, and upgraded traffic signage.

We also approved a total repavement of Winmoore Road off of Crowslanding. We must continue to be proactive about basic sidewalk accessibility and safety issues in the City of Modesto not reactive.

Under my leadership, West Modesto now has modern underground water utility infrastructure, which has resulted in better water quality and better water pressure in homes. Our families deserve health and safety and I plan to keep delivering just that.
